Photo culling for Windows and Mac
Pick what matters.
GudPick goes through a whole shoot for you. It flags closed eyes, blur and missed focus, groups the bursts and suggests the best frame, so you only spend time on the photos that need a decision. Everything runs on your own computer.
Windows · Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel) · Works with Lightroom Classic, Capture One and Bridge
What GudPick does
Made for weddings and events, where a single day can mean thousands of photos. Every flag is a suggestion with a confidence, never a verdict: you make each keep and reject decision.
Closed eyes and missed focus
Finds the shots where someone blinked or the faces are soft, with a red box on each face whose eyes are closed. Small background faces are ignored.
Blur and exposure
Flags photos where nothing is sharp, and ones that are too dark or blown out. Portraits with a soft background and moody low-light scenes are left alone.
Bursts, and the best frame
Groups near-duplicates and bursts, and suggests the best of each with a reason, such as “everyone’s eyes open, sharpest faces”. Compare your picks side by side.
People and wedding details
Tells people shots from details such as rings, cake, flowers and the first dance, and finds them by text search. Can recognise the same person across a shoot, if you turn it on.
A three-step guided review
Quality suggestions, then people and details, then similar photos. Each step lists only what still needs a decision, so you can stop and carry on later.
Straight into Lightroom
Writes ratings, colour labels and keywords as XMP for Lightroom Classic, Capture One or Bridge. RAW files are never touched.
How it works
Four steps from memory card to Lightroom. Nothing is written until you ask for it.
Open a folder
Thumbnails appear straight away, for JPEG, HEIC and the RAW files of most cameras.
Analyze
GudPick looks at every photo, on your computer. A graphics card makes it faster.
Review
Accept or dismiss each suggestion and pick the best of each burst. You decide; GudPick only suggests.
Write XMP files
Your decisions go to your photo app as ratings, colour labels and keywords.
Just sorting phone pictures?
Choose No photo app. Mark the photos you don’t want, and Finish moves them to the Recycle Bin or Trash, where you can still get them back. It can also copy the keepers into a new folder.
Your decisions travel with the photos
GudPick keeps its notes in a small _GudPick folder inside the shoot, so copying the folder to
another drive or computer keeps the analysis and your picks.
Your photos stay yours
GudPick is a desktop app, not a web service. The analysis models run on your computer, so your photos never leave it.
- Never uploaded. Photos are analysed on your computer, offline.
- Originals are safe. RAW files are never changed; JPEGs only with your approval, after a backup.
- Nothing deleted behind your back. Removing rejects is a separate step, into the Recycle Bin or Trash.
- Online for two things only: downloading the analysis models once, and checking your licence key every 15 days.
- The licence check sends the key, an anonymous code for the computer, the system and GudPick’s version. Nothing else.
